Silicone sandwich technique for securing intraoral skin grafts to the cheek

We present a technique to stabilise and secure intraoral skin grafts using two silicone sheets. For a graft to survive, the most important aspects are immobilisation and adherence of the graft to the defect. Constant mobility of the cheek makes it difficult to hold a graft in position, and salivary secretions tend to accumulate beneath the graft, which separate it from the bed. Shrinkage of a graft leads to reduced mouth opening. To overcome these difficulties, we have used a simple technique in which the graft is sandwiched between two sheets of silicone. skin grafts; silicon sheets; oral surgery
