A Reflective Account: The Ethical Principles to Consider to Ensure the Safety of a Patient with Severe Learning Needs in the Post-anaesthetic Care Unit

Healthcare practitioners plan patient's care to ensure their best interests and a smoother patient pathway. However, the nurse may consider different clinical decisions when the patient undergoing surgery has learning needs. Reflecting on such decisions enables the nurse to critically examine current practice and expectations which can lead to improved patient care, changes in practice and enhance their personal development.
