KOREAN SPAN BENEFITS FROM SIMULTANEOUS LIFT

Four Enerpac HSL8500 strand jacks each supporting 850t were installed on a temporary bent tower to simultaneously lift and position two 2,000t cable-stayed towers at 75° on the Songdo 4th Bridge in South Korea. The bridge will provide a vital link between Incheon International Airport and New Songdo City, a rapidly expanding Urban Tech-Center. The construction of the latest bridge section involved the lifting and positioning of two 2,000t cable-stayed towers. In order to prevent problems with counter-balance issues it was critical to erect both elements simultaneously and within a very tight tolerance. Even the slightest counter-balance would have created a lop-sided load, creating serious pressure and intolerable stress levels on the centre pier.
