摘要

Two decades after her first bridges book was published, this new edition by Judith Dupre offers an excuse to revisit the subject and generate a whole host of new content. The first thing that strikes you about this book, which is billed as a 'twentieth anniversary edition', is the awkward format. My initial thought, as I unwrapped the publication, was why on earth someone would choose an elongated portrait format - very tall and very thin - for presentation of a subject matter which lends itself so naturally to a landscape format? Rest assured, the inside pages do indeed use the landscape format to full effect, yet this disconnect between the cover and the inside grated and I found myself wondering why on earth they had not bound it along the short edge, which would have eliminated all the awkward handling required in one fell swoop.
