Taking into account various parameters like seasonal output, ambient conditions, operating mode of the brewhouse, distances between waste heat sources and heat sinks, process temperatures, heat output and availability, waste heat can be used for direct conversion into useful heat. To avoid waste heat, the main focus should be on improving the efficiency of closed processes. The simplest form of waste heat utilisation is the direct shifting of energy flows by means of heat exchangers. In addition, waste heat generation and the demand for waste heat can be decoupled in terms of time. Thermal energy from continuous processes can also be accumulated, in order to supply discontinuous, energy-intensive processes.
