Looking Back to See What's Ahead

As we prepare the final issue for 2001, it is almost impossible to comprehend the amount of change that this past year has brought upon us. The December issue of a magazine is a natural issue for "year-in-review" articles, and we too are looking back at how much the business landscape has changed in the last 12 months. Last year, in late autumn of 2000, the technology stocks had collapsed on Wall Street. While there was a certain amount of smugness about the dotcom wonder stocks getting a dose of strong medicine, none of us understood how deeply that would affect all of the economy, both nationally and globally.
