Various forms of floating slab track (FST) bed design were adopted in the TIAA MRT vibration sensitive areas, such as: strip bearing, single bearing, steel spring, and so on. The design concept is to make use of the mass of the slab and the damping characteristics of the vibration isolation materials to reduce the natural frequency of the entire track system, thereby lowering the noise and vibration generated by wheel-track interaction of the moving trains. The following is a brief description of single bearing pad (S7) FST construction.
