What's on the cards this summer? We're still hoping to head up to the west coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands [now known as Haida Gwaii]. I've been there many times, mainly to the Langara Fishing Lodge, just north of Graham Island, the most northerly of the two main islands. But I've never been there before in my own boat What are they like? They're a desolate group of islands with a population of less than 5,000. The islands occupy 3,931 square miles, which makes them nearly four times larger than Rhode Island, bigger than Delaware and nearly as large as Connecticut Isn't the west coast super-exposed? Yes, it is exposed, but there are numerous bays that offer shelter. We will be in one of them on the west coast of Graham Island from which we will fish from a smaller tender equipped for fishing both salmon and halibut
