America's maritime heritage is to take center stage at the biennial Monaco Classic Week at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Running from September 11 to 15, the event will pay tribute to US-built boats and host classic yachts designed by famous American naval architects such as Nathanael Herreshoff, Olin Stephens and John Alden. The Yacht Club de Monaco will also create an event "village" with a bar, lounge and a stars and stripes theme, honoring the country described as "dear to the heart" of the club's president, Prince Albert II. A selection of 70 yachts, including the schooners Puritan (1931) and Orianda (1937), will be on display, alongside vintage motor boats including Rivas and all-wood Chris-Crafts. Four William Fife-designed gaff cutters from 1906 are also set to make an appearance.
