Marc Ullom

Marc Ullom is a photographer and educator, based in Michigan, whose discrete yet contiguous bodies of work explore the ways in which our sense of identity is influenced and illuminated by the conscious and unconscious mind. His most provocative and challenging series, "Transience of Self," amplifies this theme in even more personal terms. These haunting self-portraits, staged within vagrant interiors in various stages of decay, evoke revealing visua correlatives between our bodies and our environments as we transition through time and space. Black & White spoke with Ullom recently about his work.
