Biometric visas to hike prices

The price of travel visas for non-EU nationals could be about to rise by more than two thirds as a consequence of capturing biometric identifiers as part of the visa issuance process — something that EU Ministers want to start doing from the beginning of 2007. At a high-level meeting of EU Justice and Interior Ministers in February, discussions were held on the need to up the cost of travel visas, perhaps by as much as 70%, taking the cost of a visa from 35 euros to 60 euros.
