We, humans, have been living by utilizing biomass resources produced through photosynthesis by organisms using solar energy reaching the Earth, as raw food and lumber material, but also as energy and processed products. However, amassing economic wealth and ensuring convenience during the course of the development of the human society, we have come to rely for most of our daily infrastructure largely on fossil fuels such as coal and oil, which are expected to run out someday.
