摘要

The present paper focuses mainly on the optimal use of conventional fuel diesel with utilization of plastic pyrolysis oil (PPO) obtained from waste solid material and further blended with ethanol in different proportions to meet the stringent emission norms. The diesel engine facilitated with common rail direct injection was investigated powered with different proportions of diesel, PPO and ethanol in terms of performance and emission characteristics. Further investigation was carried out to study the impact of injection strategy such as timing (IT), and pressure (IP) variations on the CRDI engine. The results obtained from the experimentation showed that the best operating parameters were of 10obTDC of IT and 900 bar of IP for maximum brake thermal efficiency (BTE) with lowered emissions for the fuel combinations of 70% PPO with 28% diesel and 2% ethanol utilized in the investigations.
