Chinese companies form strategic alliance for commercialisation of bioethanol

Guangdong Zhongke Tianyuan New Energy Science and Technology (ZKTY), a wholly owned subsidiary of engineering and technology solutions provider, China New Energy, has entered into a strategic agreement with Jilin Ethanol Industrial (JEI), and Jilin City Keda Applied Technology Development (JKDAT) to form a joint venture company, Jilin Tianyi Biochemical Development (Tianyi). The JV will work to commercialise technology and engineering solutions for bioethanol production. ZTKY owns 34% of Tianyi, while JEI and JKDAT own 51% and 15%, respectively. Under the agreement, Tianyi will provide a superior feedstock treatment and fermentation process which will be used in the full-scale commercial production at one of JEl's facilities in China. Based on the validation of the technology, Tianyi intends to scale up the technology and exploit it in the rest of China and internationally.
