In their 'state-of-the-art' article[1], Dr.Gadaleta and a group of scientists from the University in Bary and the Center for the Study of Mitochondria and Energetic Me- Tabolism, presented a timely review of the mitochondrial Theory of aging. This advanced theory, which has gained Broad academic support, postulates that accumulation of Somatic mutations of mitochondrial DNA are leading to a Decline of mitochondrial function. This is a result of the Impairment of the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation Process and the adenosine triphosphate(ATP)output, thus Affecting decisively the intracellular energy metabolism.
