Beam Inc.'s Jim Beam brand launched Devil's Cut, a premium bourbon made through a unique production process. The brand name plays off the bourbon-making term "angel's share," which refers to the portion of liquid lost from the barrel due to evaporation. After aging, some of the whiskey is trapped within the wood of every barrel. Jim Beam extracts the bourbon that is trapped deep inside the wood and calls it the "devil's cut" — the antithesis of the angel's share, the company says. After blending the extracted bourbon with extra-aged Jim Beam, the result is a 90-proof bourbon with deep color, aroma and character, it adds. A 750-ml. bottle of Devil's Cut has a suggested retail price of $23.99. LifeAID Beverage Co. launched GolferAID, a functional beverage designed by doctors to enhance the functions that are required during a game of golf. GolferAID contains 2,691 mg. of active ingredients in the form of vitamins and supplements for power, focus, balance, endurance, hydration and flexibility, the company says. GolferAID is 100 percent natural and contains no artificial sweeteners, artificial colors or caffeine, it adds. Each can contains 45 calories and 9 grams of sugar from its sweetener, organic blue agave. A 12-ounce can retails for about $2.99. Five percent of the brand's net profits are earmarked for charitable giving, according to the company.
