Tg: What got you into the frankly blokish world of racing? SP: As a kid, I remember always having F1 on the telly, going right back to James Hunt - I was six when he won the world championship. I remember it quite clearly - my dad was really into it, and my mum probably fancied Hunt. Mind you, fair play, he was pretty handsome. When I was in my twenties, I took my bike licence and had a lot of friends who were bikers, so we used to ride together. Then I started covering MotoGP. TG: Will presenting Fl be different to presenting bikes? SP: It's like my first day at school, and it's also daunting knowing I have to go in there and earn respect. I was part of the furniture in the MotoGP pit lane - I got away with murder - but that just won't happen in Fl. When I got offered the job, I had some gaps in my knowledge, so I've had to go back and fill them. I literally made an Fl den at home. I had to, because there's so much to know. I've got computers, books and files, and I'm watching old footage and documentaries… sucking it all in. I've had my head in an Fl blender since the day I got the call.
