Since 2005, China's four major state-owned commercial banks have successively completed shareholding reforms and become public listed companies. China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China have all attained a top level of return on equity among world-class banks, while by market capitalisation they are all ranked among the global top 10.
