MSMEs sustain consistent growth and resilience

As the oldest bank in Indonesia (established in 1895), BRI has consistently supported Indonesia's economic development through its banking products and services. The bank has more than 7400 outlets across Indonesia and is the largest lender in the country. BRI has proven itself as the leader in servicing micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), but there is still a huge potential for growth in this market, given that more than 90% of Indonesian entrepreneurs are categorised as MSMEs, and only one-third are served by banks. These entrepreneurs, especially those of micro enterprises, have demonstrated their resiliency against turbulence in the global economy. As well as targeting profit - which is crucial to any commercial bank - by supporting the country's MSMEs, BRI also plays a very important role in the government's programme to improve welfare in Indonesian society and overcome poverty.
