Barclays sheds $6bn stake in BlackRock

UK-based Barclays has announced that it will be selling its stake in BlackRock - the US-based fund manager - in a move that will boost the bank's capital levels.The 19.6% stake in BlackRock will be sold through an offering in which Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America-Merrill Lynch will act as joint bookrun-ners. BlackRock has agreed to repurchase up to $lbn of its stock from Barclays once the offering is completed. Barclays intends to sell its whole stake in BlackRock through the offering and the buyback.
