The inception of the Baltic Road Conferences. Due to the growing popularity of automobiles as a mode of transport, the road specialists of the Baltic States began working together to formulate strategies, culminating in the first official Baltic Road Conference in 1932. Ⅰ Baltic Road Conference, 26-28 September 1932 in Riga. The first official conference was a historic occasion and set the tone for the conferences to follow by laying down targets and objectives for the use of roads. Ⅲ Baltic Road Conference, 20-24 September 1934 in Kaunas. The Ⅲ Baltic Road Conference in Kaunas continued the process of defining road use parameters and describing road and bridge measurements. Ⅴ Baltic Road Congress. The Ⅴ Baltic Road Congress continued the process of defining the criteria for vehicles and road infrastructure, addressing the use of materials in road construction and accessibility during the winter months.
