She was delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME)'s Okpo Yard in South Korea in October of last year, making her not only one of the largest ships ever built for Hamburg Siid but also, thanks to her 1,600 reefer plugs, one of the ships with the greatest reefer capacity currently available worldwide. Sister vessel 'Santa Isabel', the second in the Santa Clara series of vessels, was also delivered in February and undertook her maiden voyage that month.
