List rental prices continue to decline

The price of marketing lists continues to decline, according toa quarterly report by list manager Worldata. Consumer Iist prices took the hardest hit, down 19.3% to about $140 per thousand names, compared with the spring 2008 average, according to Worldata's Spring 2009 List Price Index. Permission-based b-to-b e-mail lists still remain the highest-priced category, with an average of $290 per thousand names. However, this represents a $4 drop from last year. Public sector and newsletter lists followed among the highest-priced list categories, at $173 and $170 per thousand names, respectively, declining just $1 from last year. The only list category that showed a price increase was attendees/members, with an average of $129 per thousand names, up$1 from spring 2008.
