摘要

When I first set out to write this column on gender and men-torship, I initially thought I would argue for a nongen-dered perspective of mentorship. I shared the viewpoint of several of my colleagues, which was essentially, "Having a male mentor could be as good or as bad as having a female mentor." I heard many times that "it's the not gender that matters for a mentoring relationship, but the individual and the way you connect." At first blush I tended to agree with these sentiments.
