AWIS Networking Breakfast: Shaping the Future of Women's Health

The National Office of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) host a breakfast and networking event at each AAAS Annual Meeting. The 2005 event was orga-nized by the Bethesda and the Washington DC Metropolitan AWIS Chapters and sponsored by the Office of Research on Women's Health at the National Institutes of Health. A wide range of factors influence what technologies are explored, developed, and finally applied in the world of health care. "Emerging Technologies and Their Impact on Women's Health," a program held at the AAAS 2005 Annual Meeting, highlighted the impact of past technological advances and the potential of upcoming technologies. It also conveyed how public perception, current events, and policy shape the processes by which these technologies are taken from concept to implementation.
