Multinational low-cost carrier heavyweight Air Asia is looking to secure new investment in its franchise airlines as the group ramps up its fleet expansion and streamlines its sprawling structure.Driven by high-profile Group CEO Tony Fernandes, Malaysia-based Air Asia has spawned joint-venture carriers in five other countries, with more in the pipeline. The group had slowed its fleet growth to strengthen its finances, but it has now swung firmly back to expansion mode. As its overseas franchises mature, Air Asia is looking to list them on local stock markets as well as selling off nonair-line businesses.
