Smiths Detection, through its local partnerGrupo Empresarial Preventec S.A. won a contract to supply the Paraguayan Customs Service with an additional HCVMe35, a high-energy inspection system which can screen whole trucks and a ScanVan 8585, the Service's first mobile low-energy X-ray system for small packages and goods inspection. The latter will also serve to deter and decrease the transit of commercial contraband, weapons, and narcotics. The contract award also includes technical support and a multi-year warranty, and supports plans to modernise and optimise security checks at ports and border crossings in Paraguay.
