Over the years, we've gotten into several conversations with relatively new pilots to discuss what they know and how they know it. One of the recurring myths we've seen is that pilots are prohibited from slipping high-wing Cessna singles with flaps deployed. Baloney. To refresh our memory, we pulled a stack of Cessna manuals and handbooks off the shelf and leafed through them. We found only four with any reference to slips:rn1963 MODEL 205rn"Although power-off approaches with full flaps are adequately steep, slips are permissible if necessary."rn1975 MODEL 177RG "Slips are permitted with any flap setting."
