Although the rudder is the principal means of compensating for yaw, other control surfaces can have a role to play. Frise ailerons, for example, pivot at about 25 to 30 percent of the chord line and near their bottom surface. When the aileron is deflected up, the leading edge of the aileron dips into the airflow beneath the wing, helping to minimize adverse yaw.
