ADSB IMPLEMENTATION STATUS

More than 300 ADS-B ground stations were operational at the end of 2011, according to the FAA, providing coverage of the East, West and Gulf coasts and most of the area near the U.S. border with Canada. The total complement of about 700 ground stations is expected to be in place and operating by early 2014, i.e., less than two years from now. During the 2013-2015 time frame, the FAA plans to develop and implement mechanisms to provide operators with information about the current and future status of special use airspace (SUA).
