One question some owners/pilots ask is, "Should I check everything on the flight, or just the stuff with which someone tinkered?" The quick answer always should be "everything." Complicated work like cylinder replacement or a landing gear overhaul -as on the Piper Comanche pictured above-can take time. A month of shop time isn't unheard of, and any airplane that's been in a shop that long needs a thorough going over. It's not that today's technicians aren't competent; they are. Rather, it's about what happens any time a group of people are working on and around an airplane: stuff. And stuff changes, too.
