Huge Lufthansa Order

Germany's Lufthansa has confirmed plans to replace its Airbus A340 and Boeing 747 long-haul fleets - revealing a $19bn purchase of new aircraft from both manufacturers. The carrier is to procure 59 aircraft; it has placed a commitment for 25 A350-900 XWBs (plus 30 options) and has also committed itself to buying the new 777X from Boeing, which has yet to be officially launched. All the aircraft are expected to be in service by 2025.
