I enjoyed the tribute to the VC10 in the August edition. I took some photos at the Waddington International Airshow of the last C1K, XR808. As the VC10 was due to be retired in September I was very keen to go on board one for the last time, as it was back on October 25,1967 that I last went in the cockpit of a flying example! It was an East African Airways Super VC10 that my uncle, who was a captain, was flying from Heathrow to Nairobi. I was hoping that it would be a K3 at Waddington, so maybe it was the one I went on back then. I had a chat with the crew and they confirmed that the urinal was still in place in the rear loo! I heard about this unique feature at a presentation by a current RAF VC10 flyer at a Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch talk last year. What a wonderful aircraft that will be sorely missed.
