This year's RAF Leuchars Airshow was its last - ending a tradition of displays stretching back 67 years at the Fife station. Just the day before the show - which took its theme from the base motto Attack and Protect' - it was announced it would be the final event before transition to an army base. Forecast bad weather held off and the sun shone into the early afternoon when cloud rolled in - but there was no rain on this poignant parade on September 7. Making a UK debut was the Austrian Air Force's spectacular Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) role demonstration. Two Eurofighter Typhoons intercepted one of their Lockheed Martin C-130K Hercules and forced it to land. An impressive duo display simulating 1v1 air combat manoeuvres followed and one of the fighters also performed a solo routine.
