In 1982 the Royal Navy spearheaded the campaign to recover the Falkland Islands from Argentine occupation. The Fleet Air Arm (FAA) played an instrumental part in almost every aspect of the mission, firmly establishing the UK's naval arm among the world's leading operators of military aircraft from warships in combat.
