Boeing Launches 777X

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Jim McNerney launched the company's eagerly awaited 777X at the Dubai Airshow on November 18, 2013. At the same time he revealed the biggest (in value) combined launch order for a new commercial aircraft -259 orders and commitments worth $95bn. Middle Eastern carriers figure heavily in the list, with Emirates Airline committing to 150, Qatar Airways to 50, Etihad Airways to 25 and Lufthansa to 34, although the latter had already been announced.
