I enjoyed reading the article in the June issue about A-10 Cold War operations in Europe as I remember seeing the 'Warthogs' visiting air bases around the UK or at airshows. To me it is very much a symbol of the Cold War, plus its shape and the sound of its engines make it stand out from other fighter-type aircraft. When I heard that there were four US- based examples visiting Lakenheath in March I made sure I paid a visit to catch them. With the A-10s in the article having been based in Europe to counter the USSR, who would have thought that after all these years the Thunderbolt Ⅱ would be deployed back to Europe because of tensions with Russia?
