The popular image of Airbus is of giant airliners carrying hundreds of people, safely and smoothly through the sky at thousands of feet. However, nestled on the tarmac under the huge wing of an A380 at last year's Farnborough International Airshow was a tiny aircraft that may yet have a profound impact on global aviation. This machine was the intriguing and innovative E-Fan, an all-electric, tandem two-seater propelled by a pair of ducted fans.
