New Avro Museum Opens

The new Avro Heritage Museum at Woodford near Manchester opened to the public on November 13. Providing 70% more floor area than the old heritage centre, it houses 30,000-plus artefacts. The exhibits include Vulcan B.2 XM603 and the complete nose and working cockpit of XM602. Other aircraft types may be joining in the future. The building, funded by BAE Systems, includes a library, study room, conference room, cafe and shop. Initially the museum will be open Friday to Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm. Admission is £8 for adults, £6 for over-60s, £4 for children aged 16 and under, and free for under-5s. Parking is free.
