The 19-seat N-219 Nurtanio turboprop transport has received its Indonesian Type Certificate.Indonesian Aerospace had successfully manufactured 123 examples of the CASA C-212 Aviocar and used this as the basis for the N-219, which has been developed to serve remote airfields inthe archipelago. The high-wing N-219 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42 turboprops and has a range of 550 miles. It is in a similar category to the Cessna SkyCourier and Viking Twin Otter. Certification was granted on December 28. The first prototype (PK-XDT) first flew on August 16, 2017 followed by a second(PK-XDP), and initial production of four aircraft is planned for 2021 with this due to increase with expansion of capacity at the factory. The company has orders from Indonesian domestic airlines including Pelita Air Services and Lion Air. It is also working on an amphibious version which would enter service in 2024. Rod Simpson
