Flight Sim Controllers: Joysticks, yokes and rudder pedals

Before you can get airborne, you'll need to purchase some sort of controller or you'll be forced to fly using the mouse and keyboard. Of course that's a viable option but it's not the easiest route to take and not one we would recommend, simply because there are so many more affordable and realistic alternatives.Controllers come in many different, shapes, sizes and prices. From the simple cheap joystick, with just a couple of buttons, to the all singing and dancing authentic flight sticks that are sometimes accompanied by a separate throttle unit. An example of this type would be the Thrustmaster HOTAS (Hands-On Throttle And Stick) Warthog joystick and throttle combination. While this is styled on a real-world military unit, it's not unlike the controller found on many Airbus airliners and of course on many GA aircraft, although these tend to have much longer sticks.
