One online dictionary defines a 'purple patch' as a run of success. It could have a double meaning for Blue Islands, the regional carrier based in the Channel Islands. The airline has been going through better times since it entered a franchise agreement with Flybe to operate flights under the latter's brand, in which - for those who didn't realise it - purple is the dominant colour. As a result, Blue Islands now links eight UK destinations to the islands' two main landmasses of Jersey (where the operations and customer care office is) and Guernsey (location of the head office).
