The History Channel's Battle of Britain: World War Ⅱ 1940 ($20, www.ient.com, requires a 500Mhz processor, Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, 128MB RAM, 32MB 3D video card, Internet connection for online play) is a new title, but under the new overcoat is an old friend. Some readers may recall mention of the online simulation Warbirds in these pages before, and Battle of Britain is really Warbirds, updated with new features and a solitaire play component. The single-player campaign follows the progression of air battles from Dunkirk to the Battle of Britain. The mission screens include brief passages about the significance of each battle and identify the objectives for each side of the conflict. Early in the campaign, for example, Allied players may be flying to shoot down Axis bombers, while the Axis campaign would have the player flying a bomber or bomber escort.
