As the AV subject matter expert (AVSME) for the MoD's Defence Crisis Management Centre (DCMC), Stuart Carter has been involved with vcon since 1989. "As a tool for strategic planning, for policy and operational decision making it's now impossible for us to do without it," he says. "However, finance is our main issue, and it always will be. Everyone is competing for resources. We have to justify costs constantly." Formerly a teacher in science and IT and private sector trainer and software marketer, most recently Mina Patel has been chairing the London Videoconferencing Development Group.
