There's a lot of talk about the rapid changes coming to AV, driven by technological advances, IoT and the growing influence of IT. One major change is the much-heralded dominance of AV-over-IP (AVoIP) - or as some are currently calling it, AV-over-10GbE. It seems inevitable that it's a matter of when, not if HDBaseT is moth-balled in favour of AVoIP. But how long will this take, how will this affect existing 'hard-wired' installations, how will security concerns inform AVoIP's roll-out, and which AVoIP solutions are likely to come to the fore?
