EDUCATION During the recent LTSMG annual conference held at Loughborough University, Mersive Technologies' founder and cto, Chris Jaynes (pictured) made a few choice observations about AV and the technologies that are influencing its development.A prolific thinker, Jaynes founded the Metaverse Lab at the University of Kentucky- one of the leading labs for computer vision and interactive media and dedicated to research related to video surveillance, human-computer interaction, and display technologies. He began his panel deliberations by confirming what many of us have thought for quite a while. "It's clear universities drive the products of the future. They operate in a space that's not always driven by financial need. This is an environment I came from. You have the freedom to think. Often you can't do that if you're continuously chasing market trends and hitting forecasts. 1 think that's compelling. So, for me, you can always look to them (HE) to be a half step ahead of the industry. It's always clever to stay connected with these guys because of this," he said.
