One of the most daunting worries facing many in the automotive industry is the lack of young engineers coming into the profession. Already a serious matter and one for concern in the short term future, it is a situation that looks like it could become absolutely critical in the medium to long term.rnHowever, there is one sector that is still overwhelmed by the number of unsolicited CVs that come through the post - the motor sport industry.rnOne only has to look at people like McLaren's Adrian Newey, who not only has a job to die for but also gets paid something like $4 million a year, or Ross Brawn, Ferrari's technical director, who gets paid some thing like $3.5 million to see what the attraction is. Where else can you have such an exotic lifestyle, be at the sharp end of things and still be paid a fortune - not in the mainstream automotive industry, that's for sure? Even a Formula 3000 engineer, the level below Formula One, earns around $100,000.
