Brake noise is accepted as a complex problem that is difficult to predict at the design stage and very expensive in terms of warranty claims if found on a high-volume production model. Besides its general nuisance value, it may also soon be considered an environmental pollutant in today's environmentally conscious society.rnThe train of events that triggers brake squeal is still not fully understood while the source of the noise is difficult to pinpoint. Noise radiates in three dimensions from the several components of a disc brake and changes during the period of the braking seguence, so diagnostic engineers are faced with a four dimensional problem.
