The Fiat group's lveco truck division is self sufficient in the development and manufacture of engines, most of them diesels but now augmented by a line-up of low-emission natural gas (NG) fuelled derivatives. Iveco's engine research centre is located in the Swiss town of Arbon, delightfully situated on the shores of Lake Constance, where its director, Walter Knecht talked to Alan Bunting.
