The new Audi 2.8 litre V6 engine, first revealed at the Paris motor show, puts out 154 kW (210 bhp) at 5,500 rpm and offers 280 Nm torque between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm. It will be used in the carmaker's A6 and A6 Avant models from this month. The new engine uses FSI direct injection technology with homogeneous combustion. Its two four-valve cylinder heads are related to those of the 3.2 litre FSI engine: The two overhead intake and the two exhaust camshafts are timing-chain driven and allow for phasing of valve opening times by 42° crankshaft angle.
